Cleanliness & Restoration Drive at Dignibal Spring, Chanmohallah Budgam

On 12th June 2025, The Community Servants (TCS)  carried out a cleanliness and restoration drive at Dignibal Nag, located in Chanmohallah, Budgam, near the Shamshan Ghat. This initiative was undertaken as part of our continued commitment to community welfare, environmental sustainability, and preservation of culturally significant sites.

Dignibal Nag holds deep heritage and religious importance for the Kashmiri Pandit community and is recognized as a site of cultural value in the region. Over time, the area had fallen into a state of neglect, with accumulated waste and lack of maintenance affecting both its sanctity and environmental condition. The deteriorating situation also raised concerns regarding hygiene and overall public well-being.

Recognizing the importance of preserving such spaces, volunteers from The Community Servants (TCS) took the initiative to conduct a comprehensive cleaning drive. The team collectively removed waste, cleaned the surroundings, and worked to restore the dignity and respect that the site deserves.

A  Humanitarian & Non-Sectarian Initiative

This effort reflects the core values of The Community Servants (TCS) — humanity, inclusiveness, and service beyond all divisions. While the site holds religious significance for the Kashmiri Pandit community, the initiative was carried out with a broader vision: that heritage, environment, and shared spaces must be protected collectively, irrespective of religion, caste, or background.

The activity stands as a meaningful example of social harmony and collective responsibility, demonstrating how communities can come together for the common good.

Representation to Authorities for Development

Following the completion of the cleanliness drive, The Community Servants (TCS) also took a step forward towards long-term development and preservation of the site. A formal representation/letter was submitted to the concerned departments, highlighting the urgent need for:

• Development and enhancement of the Shamshan Ghat

• Proper protection and upkeep of Dignibal Nag

• Infrastructure improvements to maintain hygiene and dignity of the area

We sincerely hope that the concerned authorities will take prompt action, and that development work will be initiated at the earliest, ensuring that the site is properly maintained and preserved for the future.

Call for Sustainable Measures

To further support long-term cleanliness and protection, we reiterate our request to the administration to:

• Complete the construction of the surrounding boundary/block

• Undertake macadamization of the adjoining road

Such measures will play a crucial role in maintaining the site’s cleanliness, accessibility, and overall condition.
