Date: 4th May 2025 (SUNDAY)
Organized By: The Community Servants
In a committed effort to uphold community dignity and confront the rising public health concern of alcohol misuse, The Community Servants organized a focused Cleanliness Drive on 4th May 2025. The mission was clear — to clean up areas where alcohol bottles were being consistently dumped and to send a strong message against public alcohol consumption.
Key Hotspots Covered:
1) Railway Lane Stretch
2) New Yard Budgam (Behind the Buildings)
3) Near Water Reservoir (PHE), Karewa Budgam
4) Grid Station Area, Karewa Budgam
During the drive, volunteers collected thousands of empty alcohol bottles, reflecting the scale of the issue. These locations had become routine dumping grounds for liquor waste, threatening not only cleanliness but also community safety — especially during night hours when such activity peaks.
Purpose and Impact:
This drive wasn’t just about waste collection. It was a statement — a collective stand against the normalization of alcohol consumption in public spaces, particularly near sensitive areas like residential zones, utility infrastructure, and public paths.
With the active participation of our members, we highlighted the need for both personal responsibility and administrative action to ensure these areas are monitored, cleaned, and protected from illegal activity.
Message to the Community:
> "Every bottle we picked up was a step towards dignity. Every corner we cleaned was a message to those lost in the habit — that the community is watching, caring, and ready to help rebuild."
We call upon all citizens to join us in keeping Budgam clean and safe — not just by cleaning, but by preventing the causes of pollution, addiction, and public disturbance.
